Passing Glory plot
New Orleans, early 1960s. After an incident, black priest Joseph Verrett is sent by his superiors to Saint Augustine College, where he must teach history and keep a low profile. However, Verrett is a staunch advocate for equal rights and wants to instill confidence and pride in his black students for their heritage. When the coach of Saint Augustine's successful basketball team gives up, Verrett takes over from him. He makes it a point of honor that his black team will be able to compete against the unbeatable team of white Jesuit High. However, it appears to be no easy task to organize such a competition because the sports competitions between the two races are separate.
