Pacha plot
Tito, a shoe shiner, sleeps on the streets of La Paz. Slumbering under a Zapata hat, he dreams of another world, until he is rudely awakened by his nightmarish reality and discovers that the shoe shine box he needs to survive has been stolen. All around him is a constant struggle against impoverished social conditions. When the native population demands attention for their rights, the police respond with tear gas and snippets. A mysterious woman accompanies Tito in surreal dream sequences. She leads him down ancient Inca trails, where he receives the wisdom of his ancestors and feels a spiritual connection to the earth, until the silence of the mountains and the sound of the water are interrupted by the noise of the street battles.
