The unemployed and voluptuous blonde Lily Krenshka has had a bad life. She starts another life in New York under the name Lila Crane as a photographer, after meeting longtime freelance photographer Max West. She takes a job as a flash photographer in nightclubs. Lily is soon successful and she attracts the attention of young journalist Russell Bassett, who falls in love with her. One day, the driven Lily takes compromising photos at the Coco nightclub at the behest of columnist Roy Carver and becomes involved in blackmail. Carver steals the photo negatives from Lily in order to publish the controversial photos. Lily's life has been in danger ever since, because a gangster gang is behind the blackmail. However, due to the controversial publication, Lily can no longer count on the support of Max and Russell. Then Russell discovers a burglar in Lily's apartment and must determine that she has been kidnapped.
