Only the Winds plot

New York-based Karim undergoes eye surgery in his native Lebanon and meets friends and family. During his recovery period he also throws himself into research for a next film. In the meantime, he gauges the status of his homeland with loved ones and strangers, adding a socio-political subtext to his otherwise poetic story.

Personal meta-film in the style of Kiarostami (but somewhat 'looser' and less refined) about a (read: 'the') filmmaker who returns to his fragile homeland after a stay in the US (the 'mid-length'- movie Octopus takes that fact a bit further, since by that time the explosion of Beirut took place). Injuries to both eyelids mean that Kassem has to bandage his eyes regularly and at those moments goes half blind through life. He seeks and finds connection at a school for blind children, where a positive and sharp attitude to life prevails despite the restrictive circumstances.
