Once an Eagle plot

The story of two army officers with completely different personalities. One, Sam Damon (Sam Elliott), is an exemplary officer who would give anything for his career in the military, and the other, Courtney Massengale (Cliff Potts), is a riotous person who doesn't care much for the military and especially very happy with himself. They are followed during their years of service and their private lives from the end of the First World War to the beginning of the Vietnam War.
