Notre Étrangère plot
Portrait of two women trapped between Africa and Europe. Amy, a young mixed race woman, travels from Paris to Bobo in Burkina Faso to reunite with her mother, from whom she was separated when she was eight years old. Only her aunt still lives in the parental home and Amy finds the courtyard of her childhood comforting and disturbing. She feels like a stranger in a city she has no connection with. Mariam, a Burkinabe cleaner in Paris, leads a nondescript life. She recently met Esther, an executive in the company where she works. Esther wants to learn Dioula, Mariam's mother tongue. The two women learn to appreciate each other.
