"Sometimes you need to go to the dark side to see the light."

A coming-of-age story about the sometimes painful but often entertaining search for identity and love during puberty. After her father's sudden death, 16-year-old Joey Javitts is sent away from home to stay with her eccentric grandparents. Meanwhile, her mother who is a writer is promoting her latest novel. Joey immediately falls for the seductive gothic boy next door Victor and is transformed into black by him and his cheerful group of misfits.
