A leftist militant Italian returns to Italy after years in Venezuela and finds the comrades of yesteryear. Disillusioned with their faith in the revolution after the murder of Aldo Moro, they live as bourgeois or drug addicts. His own desperation leads to the provoked shooting of a policeman.
