La Plus Belle des Vies plot

Jean Berthillot and his wife Anne-Marie move with their baby to a village in Guinea. Jean opens a school in the village and everything seems to be going well, but then their baby dies. They become estranged from each other, Anne-Marie becomes depressed and is seduced by an engineer. The natives who appreciate the young woman try to convince her to stay with her husband.
