Knucklehead plot
When his brother disappears, the mentally retarded Langston Bellows is left unprotected in a Brooklyn social housing project. Now under the control of his abusive mother, Langston must try to take his future into his own hands. He seeks that one "doctor" he believes can cure him, a tabloid columnist and tout who prescribes questionable cocktails as medicine. After all, if Langston can become "mentally healthy," he could move into an apartment of his own with his girlfriend, another creation of his wishful thinking.
