Kings in Grass Castles plot
Kings In Grass Castles follows three generations of a pioneer family in colonial Australia. Fleeing the Irish potato famine of 1853, the Durack family seek a better life in a cruel land of infinite possibilities and rich in resources that lie beneath the surface. Led by Patriarch Patsy Durack, they begin to develop the special Kimberley region, establishing a dynamic network of rural sheep and livestock farming. While pioneering, the Duracks forge friendships with the many local Indigenous people, including the enigmatic Burrakin and Jimmy, and see the severe hardship and tragedy of a people suddenly removed from their ancestral land.
