The premise is so, well, you can call it bizarre but also full of ideas... in any case it is so special that I almost feel guilty when I have to confess that this mix of Deliverance-esque action thriller and idea film just falls short because the action isn't very exciting and the ideas remain underdeveloped, and I think in both cases that's because the characters definitely don't come to life for me. In addition, Travolta does his best, but with his forced accent and quirky appearance, he can never forget that here an American actor is trying to play a Serb, and that De Niro should never have agreed to a script. in which his character is so tired of all the violence that he refuses to shoot a deer – that is really too reminiscent of a much better film from incomparably better times. An interesting failure (although I doubt it would have gotten much better with Nicolas Cage instead of De Niro – as originally intended).

Frankly, I found the film quite strange...very good at times, de Niro and Travolta are on a roll, but some scenes are too bizarre.

The images of war are horrific. You would almost forget that these atrocities only took place (more than) 20 years ago in Europe...!!

“For 18 years I have waited.”

“So what now?”

“Hunting. I am going hunting.”

Robert De Niro and John Travolta in a cat-and-mouse game, that must make for a good movie, right? Unfortunately, Killing Season never manages to create any tension, and the constant chatter between De Niro and Travolta doesn't help either. These two characters should be fighting for each other, but it sometimes seems like a tea party. Travolta's hair (is it hair?) was also very distracting. Just like the terrible accent. De Niro is good though, and the moments when they really want to hurt each other are highlights. Unfortunately, those moments are rare.

This film is interesting in the thriller genre and wants to become an anti-war film from two opposing perspectives in the war. These two angles are from the point of view of one old Serbian soldier and the other a US Army colonel in the Bosnian war. . The film has superficial dialogues and war slogans. And it remains at this level and does not go beyond.. But the film is neither an anti-war work nor a war, and only on the level of the attractiveness of the acting of two legends and stars of the world, namely Robert De Niro and John Travolta, the film remains under the shadow of these two actors and the scene It contains interesting action throughout the film.
