Java Head plot
The Chinese princess Taou Xuen becomes the bride of the wealthy Englishman Gerrit Ammidon. Because of this mixed marriage, Ammidon has to deal with the cold shoulder of friends from his environment, but he nevertheless remains faithful to his Chinese bride. But eventually Ammidon falls in love with Nettie Vollar, a young woman of his own race. Realizing that her husband is too righteous to divorce her because of Nettie, Taou considers committing suicide.
