Ira Madiyama plot

August Sun follows three storylines over two exciting days in August 1996, when the Sri Lankan national cricket team played at the World Championships in Lahore and became champions. The match reports on the radio connect the individual stories. Euphoria over the sport coincides with political commotion over the failure of the first peace negotiations between the Sri Lankan government and the Tamil Tigers (LTTE). One of the stories is about a Muslim boy and his family, who are chased from their village by rebellious Tamil Tigers. A second storyline follows a soldier from the Sri Lankan army who goes on leave, visits a brothel and discovers that his sister works there. In the third story, we see a young woman trying to find her husband who has been missing since an Air Force operation.
