Immigrant plot
At the end of the 19th century, nine-year-old Russian Daanyik and his family leave for the United States to pursue the American Dream. When his father suddenly dies, Daanyik and his mother are left alone. Without money, without acquaintances or family, they have to manage in a foreign country. Out of desperation, his mother begins a relationship with an abusive man, who may have something to do with the death of Daanyik's father. Caught in a web of misery, Daanyik fights through his childhood and does everything he can to survive with his mother.
