Il Verificatore plot

Crescenzio works as a meter reader for the Naples gas company and thus acquires a not very optimistic view of what goes on behind the doors of his city. Crescenzio himself is big and fat and he suffers because of it; he is melancholy and often apathetic. His brother Beniamino is his antitype in everything: lively and loved by the women. Beniamino works in a company that supposedly repairs electrical appliances, but that is just a cover for illegal activities. Giuliana, who works in good faith as a secretary for the company, discovers that things are happening that are not acceptable. If she protests, it gets her in serious trouble. Beniamino doesn't lift a finger to help her, but then the hulking meter reader starts moving.
