dr. Rottach (Ernst Schröder) is a graduating class teacher. He has serious heart problems. Martin Bruck (Paul Bösiger) is a rough adolescent, who does not mince his words and can misbehave considerably according to the prevailing standards of decency. dr. Rottach succumbs to a heart attack and Martin is blamed. The school board and parents' committee want to exclude Martin, but Dr. Rottach's successor, the graceful young Helma Krauss (Luise Ullrich) insists that Martin stay. In addition, she promises the school principal Dr. Clausen (Hans Söhnker) that everyone will pass the final exam.
