The grim reality of the current US immigration system as seen through the eyes of Oscar, a 12-year-old boy from Honduras. Because of his unwanted link to a local gang, his parents smuggled him to America. He was caught by border guards in the Arizona desert and sent to an immigrant minors treatment center. Struggling to take charge of his fate in the "Icebox", Oscar befriends young Colombian Rafael, and an American journalist. Meanwhile, he tries to build a new life that is different from what he and his family expected.
