Himlen Är Oskyldigt Blå plot

The summer of 1975. After a serious argument with his alcoholic father, a high school student Martin (Bill Skarsgård) goes to an island off the coast of Stockholm on the advice of a friend for a holiday job in a hotel. After an incident involving a few stolen crates of beer, the hotel owner Gösta (Peter Dalle) unexpectedly takes a liking to Martin and makes him more or less his personal assistant. This also concerns matters that cannot bear the light of day. Meanwhile, Martin has his eye on blonde Jenny (Josefin Ljungman), who also works at the hotel.

As a child, Martin is powerless against the behavior of his alcoholic father.

But in the summer of 1975, Martin grows from a child into a young man.

When he returns to his parental home, the roles are reversed.

Strong Swedish drama: *3.0

Mediocre film with an average story. The setting is nice and the acting is not bad. The atmosphere is nice; with that hotel and those surroundings you get a bit of a holiday feeling. But as far as the plot is concerned, afterwards I really felt like "what was I actually watching?". The only positive was the last scene between Martin and his father.

Quite a nice film, but I had the impression that the screenplay was lost during editing. That's why the film looks a bit messy. There is no focus and the story goes in all directions. Which in itself is fine for an evening of unpretentious entertainment. It occasionally reminded me of the Sandham murders series.

Next movie please...

Postscript: Haha... I see that I have already seen and reviewed this film in 2021. So it didn't make an impression at all (or I'm going to suffer from dementia)
