Het Afscheid plot

A ship is in the harbor. It is consigned by the government, the crew has to report every morning. For one of the crew members, the radio operator Pierre Wesselmans, it means that he can go home every evening to his wife Laure, whom he says goodbye to the next morning. Steward Jessen lives too far from the harbor to visit the woman he loves every day. Pierre feels somehow responsible for Jessen.
