Zeb Smith is a gambler with a predisposition to criminal behavior. When the itinerant pastor Joseph catches a bullet that was actually intended for him, he promises to help build a church. Disappointed in his efforts to get donations, Zeb plans to capture escaped outlaw Doll Brown to collect the reward.
