Heleno tells the tragic life story of Brazilian football talent Heleno de Freitas. Heleno is regarded as one of the best footballers in Brazilian history, despite his arrogant attitude and failure as a team player. The many personal problems (mainly due to relationships) do not make life any easier for him. For example, after a long relationship with the sexy nightclub entertainer Diamantina, Heleno develops a venereal disease, but he refuses to be helped.
