Gunjô plot
Three childhood friends: Ryoko, Kazuya and Daisuke grow up on the remote island of Okinawa. Ryoko's mother, Yukiko Morishita, is a pianist who came from Tokyo to recover from an illness. She fell in love with a fisherman, married him and had a child, Ryoko, before dying. Daisuke and Kazuya were born the same year as Ryoko, and the three children grow up as siblings. But as they get older, each goes their own way. Kazuya decides to stay on the island and become a fisherman, while Daisuke is accepted to art school in Naha and Ryoko decides to leave the island to train as a nurse.
