Goya en Burdeos plot

Francisco Goya (1746-1828), deaf and ill, spent the last years of his life in voluntary exile in Bordeaux, protesting the oppressive regime of Ferdinand VII. He paints at night and, in flashbacks, relives the most important moments of his life, including his relationship with the Duchess of Alba and the insight Velázquez gave him how to paint. The revival of this past is transformed into scenes for his paintings.
