Ghaath plot
The bloody civil war between the Indian central government and the Naxalites, Maoist guerrillas who control entire swathes of land, began more than fifty years ago and has since taken on a life of its own in remote jungle areas. The daily lives of the fighters and the local population are marked by violence and the constant proximity of death. Ghaath shows the current situation from the perspective of three different main characters: a drunken police officer, an informant and a demoralized guerrilla. For the villagers caught between these invisible fronts, every trip to the neighboring village, a careless sentence and even the search for a lost dog can become life-threatening.
