13-year-old Laduree lives in a trailer tucked away on a beautiful piece of land in rural America. She is a loner who takes refuge in the nature she grew up in, while caring for her mother who strays between men and jobs. After a few weeks of class eight, Laduree returns home to find a note from her mother in the lunchbox, along with a fifty dollar bill stating that she has left to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a makeup artist. for the stars to come true. Laduree decides to secretly stay alone. When her grandmother, the attractive but controlling Greta, comes by, Laduree lies and says her mother is at work...
