Europa, East plot
When a young Hungarian woman breaks off her relationship, she realizes that her own destiny is entangled in the political drama in which her country finds itself. Ultra-nationalist politicians have manipulated the commemoration of the 1956 revolution in Prague for political gain. They create fear, unrest and riots. To keep her grief under control, the woman begins to collect stories from passers-by. In these stories she discovers the soul of her country: it has been determined through the ages as much by minorities as by the stories of the dominant majority. As a result, the woman comes into conflict with the nationalists who want to exclude all minorities.
