Durchreise plot

In 1931 Max Salomon managed to run a flourishing clothing workshop in Berlin. His loyal collaborators are: seamstress-designer Helmut Naumann, first salesman Ernst Fiedler and seamstress Monika Helmholtz, a butcher's daughter who started out as an apprentice. Siegfried Fraenkel, the nephew of Richard Fraenkel, the wealthy owner of a chain of clock shops, is also included. Siegfried starts out as an apprentice, but climbs up quickly, although he would have preferred to study. Siegfried is having a good time, but doesn't notice that Monika has a crush on him.
