Drachenfutter plot

In Hamburg, immigrants try to make something of their lives. Shehad (Bhasker Patel), a Pakistani in his early 20s, lives in a small hotel owned by Shady (Buddy Uzzaman). The hotel is almost literally the United Nations. Shezad helps an older friend, Rashid, with his right to an amnesty. When that fails, Shady offers to smuggle him to the United States for a large sum. Shady gets Shezad a job in the kitchen of a Chinese restaurant where he befriends Xiao (Ric Young), who works there as a waiter. Having saved up enough money, Xiao wants to start a restaurant for himself, and wants Shezad to be a chef. That's why it becomes a Pakistani restaurant as well. Will good times finally come?
