"Love is all that matters."

Olivia King (Diana Ross) abandoned her family eighteen years ago to realize her dream. Now that she has achieved her goal and is a famous singer, she returns home to help her daughter Kayla (Brandy) with her music career. Kayla only accepts Olivia's help on the condition that no one ever finds out about their real relationship. As Kayla becomes more famous, a fragile bond develops between the two women.
