"Four Flags...One Struggle for Freedom"
After World War II, Vienna was divided into four sectors by the Allies: the United States, the Soviet Union, Great Britain and France. Four sergeants of the military police of the various occupiers patrol Vienna in the same jeep. These four sergeants are William Long, Vassilij Voroshenko, Harry Stuart and Marcel Pasture respectively. One day they are ordered to capture and arrest Karl Idinger. Karl is a prisoner who has escaped from a Russian POW camp. But when the four sergeants learn the truth about Karl from his wife Franziska, they decide to help him. The problem, however, is that Vassilij Voroshenko has strict instructions from his superiors. He is not allowed to let the fugitive Karl escape and he thus comes into conflict with his fellow military police officers.
