Die Liebenden vom Alexanderplatz plot

Ruth (Inge Meysel) has lived in New York since the end of World War II. When she hears that a Berlin friend has died, she decides to go back to the city one last time. This friend saved her life at the end of the war. Together with the widow Lotte (Helga Göring), she tries to cope with the loss. She is accompanied by her granddaughter Sarah (Johanna-Christine Gehlen), who wants to combine the useful with the pleasant.
