Devoted Heart plot

War veteran Joe Shepherd returns home to discover that his fiancée, Mary, is mysteriously pregnant. An angelic dream reveals the divine truth: she is carrying Jesus, the Savior of humanity. Despite gossip and doubt, they embark on a census-mandated journey, where they are stranded in a storm and Mary gives birth to Jesus in a barn. Angelic visions summon migrant workers to worship the child.
