Dev is about the friendship between two police officers Dev Pratap Singh (Amitabh Bachchan), an elderly and venerable Police Commissioner, and Tejinder Khosla (Om Puri), who regularly acts as a buffer between Prime Minister Bhandarker's political interests and Dev's loyalty to the law. The strong bond between the two is tested when Dev unknowingly causes Farhaan (Fardeen Khan), an ideological and peace-loving young law student, into a spiral of violence that leaves his lover, Aaliya (Kareen Kapoor), in a predicament. that completely changes her life. Against a backdrop of political corruption, the two friends set out for a dramatic denouement when Tejinder breaks the law in an attempt to eradicate crime and Dev faces a moral imperative to act.
