Desierto Adentro plot

In the years after the Mexican Revolution, churches are closed and priests are forced to leave the place where they have lived and worked. Elías does not accept these new rules and pressures the ex-priest to baptize his new son Aureliano. However, the troops are after the priest and soon the whole community is paying for Elias' stubbornness. Elías decides to go into the desert with his family to do penance. His goal is to build a church.
