Der Mann im Schwarzen Mantel plot

A film about the recent German past based on the biography of the intelligent teacher Manfred Ibrahim Boehme (Wolf-Dietrich Sprenger), a hero of the hippie days and the Prague Spring. When the alternative culture (the poet Reiner Kunze, the writer Jürgen Fuchs, and the band Media Nox) was suppressed by the invasion of Czechoslovakia and exiles among others of Rolf Biermann or the 'departure' of Manfred Krug were commonplace, all hopes were pinned on him - then only 24 years old. Even after the fall of the Berlin Wall as a candidate for the SPD in the new federal states. However, the elections were lost by the SPD and then (now 22 years later) Stasi files showed that he had played a double role: that of a devoted confessor of his fellow man in need and that of a traitor.
