Der Fall Jägerstätter plot
Franz Jägerstätter owns a small farm in St. Radegund in Upper Austria and works in the church as a sexton. He makes as little a secret of his rejection of the National Socialist regime as of his strong faith: Jägerstätter refuses military service on the grounds that as a Christian he does not serve an unjust regime and is not allowed to participate in a criminal war. He rejects the advice of his friends to leave the responsibility for these matters to the authorities. But he believes that no man, no "leader" and no bishop can take responsibility for his actions. With this decision he stands alone against his family, against his village and against his church.
