Chemman Chaalai plot

Central to the story is a family who lives and works on the plantation. They work hard for meager wages and depend on their employer for everything. The main character is Shanta, the ambitious daughter of the family. She has decided to go to university, which in her milieu means something like going to the moon. A woman, a poor woman, a poor Indian woman. But she continues to strive for the impossible.
