Cheb plot
Merwan Kechida is a young second-generation Algerian in France. A crime committed by him makes the court decide that he must return to his country of origin. There he ends up in a culture that is foreign and hostile to him, of which he understands neither the language nor the morals. He is immediately arrested as a conscript and stationed in a barracks deep in the desert. Malika's girlfriend, comes over to Algeria. Officially for family visits but actually to look for Merwan. Her family forces her to stay in Algeria, takes her papers and locks her in the house. Mervan decides to desert and flee to Morocco with Malika to re-enter Europe.
