Chapaev plot
This film is based on the book about Vasili Ivanovich Chapaev (1887-1919), who was the commander of the 25th division of the Red Army during his lifetime. Chapaev was an uneducated peasant and a highly decorated hero of World War I and later in the Russian Civil War, which immediately followed the Russian Revolution. This man of action always fought on the side of the poor. His troops were made up of peasants, just like himself. Unable to read or write, he was able to demonstrate brilliant combat tactics by moving potatoes on the table. He never lost a single battle against the experienced generals of the Tsar's army.
