"The war that would not end..."
Vietnam veteran Tim Murphy (Don Johnson) suffers the delayed effects of a war syndrome caused by a horrific event in Vietnam that he and his comrade experienced during the war. Their changed behavior frightens their families. The low point is reached when Tim threatens his son Ronnie with a knife and beats his wife Paula. When a veteran friend commits suicide, Tim has had enough and commits to finally deal with his Vietnam syndrome.
