Casta Diva plot

The artist Bellini composes a beautiful love song for Maddalena, a charming young girl who is promised by her father to a wealthy aristocrat for marriage. Their love is also hindered by the presence of another woman, Giuditta. Bellini is heartbroken and goes to Milan, but at the height of his success, one of his operas turns into a real fiasco. Maddalena, who still loves him, offers to help him, but the exhausting journey to Milan seriously affects her frail health...
