Barbara plot
The young Reverend Poul Aggersoee (Lars Simonsen) arrives in the Faroe Islands to give a special service. There he meets the beautiful Barbara (Anneke von der Lippe), who was married to two pastors, but who died in quick succession. Despite warnings from his environment, he falls for her innocent and immoral charms. When the charming and gallant Andreas Heide arrives on the island, there is a great tension in their love life.

That is somewhat true what jan66 says. I couldn't get through the first hour. Then there will be more drama and it will be about something. The natural beauty of the Faroe Islands is overwhelming. A Danish pastor is 'called' to a remote parish and succumbs to the charms of the former pastor's wife, a femme fatale, that's for sure. I didn't know Anneke von der Lippe, but she plays the role of Barbara convincingly. It is a tragic love story, set in the eighteenth century. It is also a decent EO film with all those Bible texts. That party with those French sailors was fun, the ending is fine and the poster is beautiful.
