Bang the Drum Slowly plot

"Nothing is more important than friendship. Not fame, not money, not death."

The story of a New York pro baseball team and two of its players. Henry Weggen is the star pitcher and Bruce Pearson is the normal, average player, who is not much of a star. Bruce discovers he is ill and Henry, his only friend, is determined to make his final season a memorable one.
