Babusya plot
Grandma Tusya, who has cared for her sick daughter and her grandchildren all her life and who dug trenches in the battle of Stalingrad, is forced out of her home by her son-in-law at an old age and sent to her sister. Then she moves from one inhospitable family member to another. Her family's ingratitude, to whom Grandma has become a burden, is a model for the decline of family life in modern-day Russia. The old peasant woman forms a stark contrast to the materialistic urban yuppies, with whom grandma is not welcome.
