Ba Liang Jin plot
After illegally immigrating to America ten years ago during the Cultural Revolution in his country, New York taxi driver "Slim" Cheng (Sammo Hung Kam-Bo) returns to China to visit his family. In order to appear more important than he is, he borrows a gold watch of 6 taels from a colleague and a gold chain of 2 taels from another colleague. After all, a man is nothing without 8 taels of gold. Back in China, he hardly recognizes the country. He meets his cousin 'Odds and Ends' and together with her little brother 'Little Buffalo' they go to the rural village where he was born in search of his parents. A journey that is not without its problems.
