Ablaze plot

On November 18, 1947, a fire broke out in the basement of Ballantynes department store in Christchurch, New Zealand. Five hundred employees were working as usual and hundreds of customers were wandering through the showrooms and drinking tea in the lunchroom. Management told everyone that a little smoke was no cause for concern.
