A Triumph of the Heart: The Ricky Bell Story plot

True story about the friendship between popular football player Ricky Bell (Mario Van Peebles) and handicapped boy Ryan Blankenschip (Lane R. Davis). The athlete helps the boy overcome many hurdles, so that he eventually becomes a star in running competitions for athletes with a slight disability. Tragedy strikes when it turns out that the football star herself suffers from a serious muscle disease.
