Stephen Ashe, a lawyer, successfully defends mobster Ace Wilfong in a murder case. Stephen Ashe's daughter Jan Ashe breaks off his engagement to polo player Dwight Winthrop and has an affair with Ace Wilfong. But when she wants to end this relationship, she finds it isn't as easy as she thought. Winthrop can't stand Ace having a hold on her and kills him, after which he wins her love back. The question now is whether his lawyer Stephen will win this murder case.
