A Divina Comédia plot
An allegory about western civilization. Place of action is an establishment with people who imagine themselves to be a biblical, historical or literary great. For example, Adam and Eve, Jesus, Raskolnikov and Ivan (from Dostoevsky's novels) and an incarnation of the anti-Christ philosopher are reviewed. According to De Oliveira, these characters reflect the great dilemma of life from 'human comedy': on the one hand the urge for sex, power and death, on the other hand the longing for suffering and resurrection.
